State visit by President of the Republic of Korea, H.E. Yoon Suk Yeol to the Netherlands
The President of the Republic of Korea, His Excellency Yoon Suk Yeol, was on a state visit to the Netherlands, at the invitation of His Majesty the King Willem-Alexander, on Tuesday 12th and Wednesday 13th of December 2023. He was accompanied by his wife, Mrs. Kim Keon Hee. It is the first time that a president of the Republic of Korea has made a state visit since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries in 1961.
His Majesty King Willem-Alexander and Her Majesty Queen Maxima paid a state visit to the Republic of Korea in 2014 and Prime Minister Rutte and President Yoon concluded a Strategic Partnership Agreement in November 2022.
The state visit offers the opportunity to further develop the good trade relationship between the Netherlands and the Republic of Korea and take a step further towards closer cooperation. Prosperity and stability in East Asia and the entire Indo-Pacific region is also on the agenda.
The Netherlands and the Republic of Korea are partners with shared norms and values who work together in areas such as sustainable energy, agriculture, and high-technology.
